Malonyl-CoA:ACP acyltransferase The Malonyl-CoA:ACP acyltransferase (MAT) domain is derived from the lovB gene of Aspergillus terreus, it is the second domain of the naturally occurring iterative polyketide synthase, and it is codon optimized for Aspergillus niger. LovB is involved in the production of the first intermediate in the lovastatin pathway, dihydromonacolin L. The MAT domain is able to select molecules used for extension of the substrate and to transfer them in the form of malonic esters.
